Interview with Montreal punk rock group NOBRO

Today on What On What's Good with Jovin Tardif, I am here with NOBRO.  NOBRO is an all-female quartet that includes Kathryn McCaughey (bassist/vocalist),  Karolane Carbonneau (guitarist), Sarah Dion (drummer), and Lisandre Bourdages (keyboardist/percussionist).   They are a punk rock group from Montreal.  In February, the band released their EP 'Live Your Truth Shred Some Gnar'. They also just recently toured with Billy Talent.  Our #cinqque5tion interview discusses musical influences, how the group met, and much more.

1. Who are some of your biggest influences and why?

Joan Jett - She broke so many rules and made so much great music because of it.

Brody Dalle - Being a teenager in the middle of nowhere, you didn’t see many female-fronted punk bands, but somehow someway The Distillers came into my life when I needed her the most.

Jay Reatard - Blood Visions is undeniably good and will always stand the test of time.

The Nerves - every song is amazing.

The Damned - gets me stoked.

2. How did you all meet?

We all met in Montreal through friends of friends mostly. It’s a small place with a small music community so everyone knows everyone.

3. What advice would you give to someone who just started their career in music?

Keep going.

4. Do you have any fun behind-the-scenes stories about creating your new album 'Live Your Truth Shred Some Gnar' that came out on February 23rd?

Haha, there are some, but I don’t think they are suitable for everyone reading!

5. Can you tell us about the tour with Billy Talent?

Crazy. Loud. FUN.
