Film Review: Samaritan (2022)

Image
Samaritan Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Balboa Productions United Artists Releasing Amazon Studios Release date August 26, 2022 #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif | What On What's Good) Is it just me...I feel like Stallone's character Joe Smith was a lot like Bruce Willis’s character David Dunn in Unbreakable...  In this action-thriller film, a gang led by Cyrus (Pilou Asbaek) gets a bit out of hand and someone needs to stop them.  Can Joe (three-time Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone), who plays a garbage collector, use his powers to save the day without 13-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) and the rest of the Granite City finding out his secret?  Stallone was pretty decent in this one.  The movie had a 90's feel to it. Can the old guy come out of retirement and beat the bad guy?  Will justice prevail? Directed by Julius Avery Written by Bragi F. Schut Based on Samaritan by Bragi F. Schut, Marc Olivent, Renzo Podesta Produced by Sylvester Stallone,

Film Review: Moonage Daydream

Moonage Daydream HBO Documentary Films, BMG, Public Road Productions, Live Nation Productions Neon Release dates 23 May 2022 (Cannes) 16 September 2022 (United States) Moonage Daydream #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (By: Jovin Tardif | What On What's Good) Brett Morgen created a very interesting documentary about David Bowie.   In a creative way, you get to see different tour performances, music videos, movie appearances, movie clips, travelogues, home videos, news reports, never-before-seen video footage, and more throughout the film. Bowie loved to entertain everyone and he was constantly evolving. The film allows you to learn about his passion for music, theatre, film, painting, and sculpting by watching interviews from the different parts of his career. It was quite interesting to learn about Bowie’s state of mind throughout his life. We learn a bit about his upbringing and marriage to model Iman. The visuals are quite stunning and this film is definitely a must-see at IM

TV Mini Series Review: The Most Hated Man on the Internet (2022)

The Most Hated Man on the Internet (2022) RAW #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif) For those who want to get to learn more about evil on the internet, you might want to check this out.  Hunter Moore created the website 'isanyoneup?' where people can submit inappropriate photos or videos online of others.  The point of the website was to ruin people's lives.  Moore quickly became the most hated man on the internet.  The mini-series focuses on the mother and daughter who went after Hunter to end this madness.   "The Most Hated Man On The Internet" is a decent docu-series. Some of the interviews were quite engaging.  Some of the archival footage and shots of Hunter really helped to get the message of this atrocity.  It's not the best documentary of the year, but it’s a fascinating true-crime story. The Most Hated Man on the Internet (2022) Release date: July 27, 2022 Directed by: Rob Miller Executive Producers: Alex Marengo and Adam Hawkins Produc

Echoes That Kid Ed Productions, EndemolShine Banks Australia Netflix Release date 19 August 2022 Genre Drama No. of episodes 7 #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (Jovin Tardif | What On What's Good) Echoes is a mystery thriller about two identical twins, Leni and Gina, who decided to continuously swap lives from childhood to adulthood. The twist in this miniseries is that one of the sisters goes missing. The question is...what happened? Can one of the twins cover for both of them? You have 7 episodes to watch in this limited series in order to figure out what's occurred. I think you will enjoy the performance of Michelle Monaghan who plays the dual roles of Leni and Gina. TV Series Review: A League of Their Own

Image
A League of Their Own Amazon Studios, Sony Pictures Television Release date: August 12, 2022 #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif | What On What's Good) I'm just going to say right off the bat that I'm a huge fan of the 1992 classic A League of Their Own starring Geena Davis and Tom Hanks. I hope this doesn't affect my opinion of the series. In the series, Carson (Abbi Jacobson) leaves her husband to join the All American Girls Baseball League (AAGBL) the Rockford Peaches. She's a relatively shy individual. Her character grows quite a lot during the show. I think you will definitely like the character development. She meets Greta (D’Arcy Carden) and Jo (Melanie Field) in Chicago. Some of their characteristics are quite similar to Mae and Doris in the film. I particularly liked Max Chapman (Chante Adams) and Clance Morgan (Gbemisola Ikumelo) who are best friends on the show. Max wants to be a pitcher and Clance loves to create her own comic books. The
