The Dropout Elizabeth Meriwether Pictures/Semi-Formal Productions/20th Television/Searchlight Television Disney Platform Distribution/Hulu Genre Drama #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif) 'The Dropout' tells the story of Elizabeth Holmes (Amanda Seyfried).   The series basically explores the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos. Her goal was to create a blood diagnostic technology that will be able to run hundreds of tests on a single drop of blood.  Her technology never worked.   I must say, Amanda Seyfried does an amazing portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes.  The story allows you to see Holmes in high school, as a college freshman, and eventually a businesswoman. It is set in a town called Deadloch, Tasmania.  In the first episode, Trent Latham (Barry Wheeler) is found naked and dead on a beach.  The question is can Sergeant Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) and Det. Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami) work together to solve the mystery?  It's a whodunnit. Enjoy! Description Deadloch is an eight-part crime comedy. When a local man turns up dead on a beach, two vastly different detectives are thrown together to solve the case. Deadloch puts a comedic spin on the crime genre, completely flipping it and challenging the tropes of the genre. Along with reporter Jean Cole, McLaughlin challenged the sexism of the era, pursuing the story at personal risk and uncovering corruption that cast doubt on the identity of the strangler. #whatonwhatsgood Express Review The Boston Strangler murdered 13 women in the Boston, Massachusetts area in the 1960s.  The Boston Strangler movie follows Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley) and fellow reporter Jean Cole (Carrie Coon) who are trying to get the story out about who is doing these crimes.   Unfortunately, they are met with many challenges from men in order to tell their narrative. He thinks that it would be a great story for his podcast to go and find out about what happened to this girl.  He ends up falling in love with a girl that he never knew.  My initial thoughts when I read the script were that this is the most brilliant script I've read in 10 years, I was excited that it came from my friend B. J. Novak.   I think, Quentin, my character, represents the subtle pursuit of fame through arts and storytelling. I was blown away by working with B. J. The Thing About Pam Weird Egg Productions/Big Picture Co./NBC News Studios/Blumhouse Television NBC #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif)   "Who doesn't like a true-crime story?  'In The Thing About Pam' Renée Zellweger plays Pam Hupp.  In this particular mystery series, you are told right away who murdered Betsy (Katy Mixon).   But you get to learn how the killer makes others believe that there could be other suspects. This includes Betsy's husband Russ Faria (Glenn Fleshler).   Pam is an interesting character and Zellweger does a fantastic job of playing her. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story Funny or Die, Tango Entertainment, Ear Booker Productions The Roku Channel Release dates September 8, 2022 (TIFF) November 4, 2022 #whatonwhatsgood Express Review His mother Mary (Julianne Nicholson) didn't mind that Al wanted to be a musician but his father Nick (Toby Huss) thought it wasn't a good idea.  Al Yankovic (Daniel Radcliffe) nonetheless decided to follow his dream and create polka songs by changing the lyrics to well-known songs.   Did he make his dream come true and at what cost? In one segment, you learn how Al came up with the song “My Bologna” which quickly got the attention of Dr. Demento (Rainn Wilson).  Where the story got weird was his "relationship" with Madonna (Evan Rachel Wood).  It was very unrealistic... yet funny ...
