Jess Wolfe discusses the new album
“It is a record that begs you not to sit in the difficult moments, but to dance through them.
It touches upon all these stages of grief—and some of that is breakthrough, by the way. Being able to have the full spectrum of the experience that we have had, or that I’ve had in my divorce, or that we had in lockdown, having our careers come to a halt, so to speak. I think you can really hear and feel the spectrum of emotion and hopefully find the joy in the darkness. It does exist. That’s why we made Second Nature and why we wanted it to sound the way it did: our focus was on dancing our way through the darkness."

New singles

1. Daniel James McFadyen
New single "Mr. Lipless”

Daniel James McFadyen discusses new single "Mr. Lipless”
“The song is inspired by a man I met in Guatemala while I was playing there a few years back. I was playing at a bar on Lake Atitlan in a small town called San Marcos La Laguna. While I was playing, a small man with long black hair approached the stage with a bongo drum; he seemed eager to play. I signaled for him to come on-stage and he joined me. We played for hours together only communicating through music and I found it amazing that he was able to adapt to any style he heard while having no context for this western music.”

It was hard to imagine being in a situation when I could only properly communicate with a few hundred people for the rest of my life.  A few years later I returned to the lake and I was not able to find the man and the bar had closed down, and I did not even know his real name. It was then I came up with the name 'Mr. Lipless' and decided to write a song about him.”

2. Akawui
New single "Nueva Era"

Akawui discusses new single "Nueva Era"
"Nueva Era talks about a shift of consciousness and the birth of a New Era where minorities around the world (Indigenous people, women, the black community, LGBTQ) who had their voices and rights taken away by the white patriarch movement will now stand and walk freely."

3. Charissa
New single and video "Love and Be Loved"
#Charissa #LoveAndBeLoved

Charissa discusses new single and video "Love and Be Loved"
"How wonderful it is to love and be loved. When I thought about that more, it led me to think about not only romantic love, but all kinds of love. That's a beautiful sentiment to put out into the world – to give love and feel it in return."

4. Danny Marks
New single “Man on the Radio”
Upcoming Album, Lifeline

Danny Marks discusses new single "Man on the Radio"
“Radio has come up big to reach people at home and heart in trying times, an intimate connection that reaches around the globe. ‘Man On The Radio’ comes from this place.

Radio reached my Dad in the 1920's from the Cotton Club, Grand Ole Opry, and beyond. Dad would get a crystal set, in the 1920s, and listen to the Cotton Club with Cab Calloway. He passed along that love to us, with a shortwave radio and the art of radio.

When I was twelve years old, I was part of a radio play at the national broadcaster, CBC. They had crinkled up stuff to make it sound like a fire, coconut shells for the horses’ hooves, A little funny door on a platform to open and close. We gathered around the mic and the performers had their arms around each other’s shoulders. I’d been to drama school, but radio – it seemed so intimate. Being on that side
of the mic – I always wanted to.”

The idea that you can tell a story through a succession of songs on the radio, is not unlike how I would work a set at my performances.  It’s so beautiful to hear one song dovetail into another and the mood shift. What you look for in joining music to tell a story.  In the 21st Century, radio's days are far from gone.”

5. STRANGE ADVANCE
New Single “Perfect Day” from Strange Advance 4

Arnott from STRANGE ADVANCE discusses new single “Perfect Day”
“This time Strange Advance has the best combination of players ever. Each one of them is multi-talented and more importantly, super nice.  That makes such a difference when having to deal with rehearsals, recording sessions, and of course life on the road. These guys are in this because they love the music and I think it shows in our performances.

I don’t normally write songs ‘about’ anything in particular, but ‘Perfect Day’ was different. It’s based on the death scene of Edgar G. Robinson’s character in the film Soylent Green. At the time he died, the earth had been ravaged by mankind and in return for volunteering for an ‘early death’, the powers that be allowed the volunteer to go out in style. A good last meal watching footage of the earth in its prime, listening to the music of their choice. In his case Beethoven. It turned out to be Edgar’s last film. He died two weeks after filming of his death scene. Powerful stuff.

My favourite thing in the world is writing songs. It’s always an adventure. I collected so many songs that stood the test of time and I was afraid that no one would ever hear them. So, Strange Advance 4. And playing live.”

6. Colour Tongues
New Single "Daydream"
Debut album 'Midnight Island' Out May 19, 2022

Colour Tongues discusses new single "Daydream"
“The new song is about living in the daydreams of what life could have been: What if things had been different? What if we had gone this way instead of that?” The band questions. “Getting caught up in the fictions of what could have been keeps us from accepting the way things really are - It's time to wake up from the dreams of the day, and start living instead.”

7. RVHEEM
New single "For You"

RVHEEM discusses new single "For You"
"It's easier for a man to act as if he doesn't care than to face how he truly feels. "For You" was my way of accepting how I felt, and it taught me that sometimes it's ok to not be ok."

8. Lorne
New single “Bow Out”

Lorne discusses new single “Bow Out”
“In the lyrics, I looked for ways to describe the need for space and a way out of a difficult situation”.

9. KIANA
New single "chaos"

KIANA discusses new single "chaos"
“In relationships and especially when we’re in love, we’re so quick to blame ourselves for any pain experienced because we are our biggest critics. It’s important to step outside that narrative because it’s not healthy and it’s self-damaging, especially when you honestly know you weren't the only cause of the effect.

The way I view it, during moments of conflict or when you get your heartbroken, you become defensive in order to protect yourself, and your emotions are extremely heightened. This represents Side A. And after time passes, the way you once felt begins to change and you bring it back to yourself. You acknowledge what you’re willing to accept, the type of lover you are, and that you’re not always to blame for the damage caused. This represents Side B.”

10. Manny Blu
New track “Playback”

Manny Blu discusses Playback
“I first released ‘Playback’ in 2019 as part of the Leave It Like It Is EP, when I was on my first-ever Canadian tour.   It’s wild to think how much has changed since then, both for me personally and in the music industry. I wanted to celebrate my growth as an artist by putting out a new version of this track that brings back so many great memories for me.”

11. Nate Haller
New single “Ain’t Like Me

Nate Haller discusses new single “Ain’t Like Me”
“The song fired me up the first time I heard it and the fact that my friends wrote it made it even more special. I knew right away I had to record this one.  Not only did it have that anthem-like sound that I love, it totally nails my real-life situation and how I ended up with my girlfriend.”

12. Elliot Lee
New single Mess Boy

13. Family Man
New single What's New
Debut EP What's New out May 6, 2022

14. Darkometro (Maia Davies & Patrick Krief)
New Single "Never Been"

Maia Davies discusses new single "Never Been"
“‘Never Been’ is a place created where wild love feels safe. This naively beautiful aspiration I carry around, that just a touch or a look to someone can electrically forge all the highs of love. It’s a moment I’ve lived but never maintained. So in this song my fantasy comes to life, somewhere to drink too much wine with someone, party and kiss and have it never end.”
Patrick Krief discusses new single "Never Been"
“The sounds of ‘Never Been’ were created as if scoring a movie, one of a murky night, of low visibility, with high lush vocals calling through it. I wanted the bass to feel wooly and warm like a blanket over the whole thing. Summoning Bowie's cacophony on ‘Heroes’, I layered guitars and synths forever, til they grungily and joyfully become one thing.”

15. KiNG MALA AKA Areli Castro
New single “cult leader”

KiNG MALA discusses new single “cult leader”
“I want this song to be two minutes of pure unabashed confidence. I want people to let themselves get lost in the fantasy of the most confident version of themselves (even if it’s a bit toxic). I want this to be a song people turn to when they want to feel like a badass!”

16. Brenzy
New single "brunch"

17. Ozuna and Boza

New single “Apretaito”

18. Noah Cyrus
New single I Burned LA Down
New debut album, ‘The Hardest Part,’ set for release on July 15

Noah discusses new single 'I Burned LA Down'
“Living in California, you’re constantly living with this dread of wildfire season. At the time, I was reeling from my breakup, and Caldor was dominating the news. All this internal, emotional pain I was feeling was intertwined with the anxiety around this out-of-control fire and climate change in general.  The song took shape around the idea that the only way my ex could comprehend the scale of my emotions was if I became this agent of chaos and set the entire city on fire. That idea of your internal struggle manifesting itself in the real world and affecting your surroundings is a big theme of the record, and that song feels so much bigger than anything I’ve written before. It’s the perfect introduction to the album.”

19. Tayo Sound
New single ‘Forwards and Backwards’

Tayo Sound discusses new single ‘Forwards and Backwards’
“‘Forwards and Backwards’ is about an unhealthy relationship that kinda feels like a tug of war. Melodically it’s very Jon Bellion inspired. Finn Keane (Charli XCX) wrote the guitar part, Frances (Dua Lipa, Holly Humberstone) the hook and then I had the verse melody and the rest came together really quickly. I wanted it to feel bouncy but lyrically really sad, which is kind of the whole point of the song, a constant battle between the good and the bad of a breaking relationship.”
