Jamie Foxx describes The Burial

“A great American story.”

Datari Turner discusses The Burial

“I want people to be entertained while watching the film, but also understand why it’s important not to judge a book by its cover,”
“Friends and allies can come in all  different packages, so keep your eyes open.”

Amanda Warren discusses The Burial

“I think the challenge we face, as a global community, is really looking at each other and
embracing our differences.”

“It’s nice to have these kinds of poignant stories that can be somewhat of a catalyst to getting our spirits moving in the right direction where we can look at each other and embrace those differences.”

Pamela Reed discusses The Burial

“There’s so much heart in this film and also, some laughter”
“Within all of that, I hope people will go away knowing their country is a little better.”

Mamoudou Athie discusses The Burial

“This film is a retelling of a story about humanity versus capitalism in America.  But it’s also very full, very fun and funny, with a lot of heartwarming moments and performances.”

Maggie Betts discusses The Burial

"The movie felt like a really fun opportunity to play with and subvert the more traditional
notion of a courtroom drama.”

“Particularly all those melodramatic, cheesy ones from the 80s and 90s. To do this, I first made sure that the story closely followed all of the most formulaic story beats that are so indicative to the genre. But then at the same time, I also wanted to give the film a slightly self-conscious quality while it's doing this. As if it's both fully adhering to all the rules of the genre, while at the same time subtly aping them in all these funny little ways. "

Bobby Shriver discusses The Burial

“In this moment in our country, I like the idea that a lot of different types of people can come
together to make a difference.”

“It doesn’t matter if there are men, women, black or white or if you’re a Floridian or from Mississippi, you can build a team and get things done.”

Tommy Lee Jones discusses The Burial

“The work speaks for itself, but what I hope people take away would be a fresh look at one
another, regardless of race.”

“Racism, and the insidious ways it undermines our lives, is an important theme in this film. The glory of overcoming those handicaps is also apparent.”
