TV Review: The Neighborhood

The Neighborhood Mud, Blood & Beer Productions/A Bird and a Bear Entertainment/Kapital Entertainment/Trill Television CBS Studios/CBS #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif) "The Neighborhood on CBS is about a friendly Midwestern couple (Dave and Gemma Johnson) and their son Grover (Hank Greenspan) who move to a neighborhood in Los Angeles. Gemma (Beth Behrs) got a new job as a school principal in L.A. Dave Johnson (Max Greenfield) is just about the friendliest guy in the world.  I don't think anyone can dislike him.  Well one person can... They have a pretty opinionated next-door neighbor, the grouchy mechanic Calvin Butler (Cedric the Entertainer).  He has a wife named Tina (Tichina Arnold) and two sons Marty (Marcel Spears) and Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney).   Dave is desperately trying to fit in with the community.  Will the Johnsons be accepted by everyone?   The series is quite amusing.  Tina as Calvin's wife is fun as she keeps...

Interview with AMERICAN HORROR STORY Naomi Grossman Today on #whatonwhatsgood with Jovin Tardif, I am here with Naomi Grossman . You may know Naomi from her role in Ctrl Alt Delete . Grossman also plays "Pepper" on FX's American Horror Story : Asylum & Freak Show. She also appeared as a new character, the Satanist "Samantha Crowe" in the eighth season, Apocalypse. Today, we discuss her new film romantic comedy BITE ME! available now, and much more. 1. What do you love about acting? That’s a really good question.  I have to remind myself of the answer regularly!  Because there’s a lot of things I don’t love about this business.  But at the risk of sounding cheesy, I think it’s just what I was put here to do.  I'm a performer through and through— like us vampires in “Bite Me” get our energy from blood, I get my energy from an audience.  The validation of applause… the gratification of laughter… the knowledge you’ve touched people… it’s intoxicating.  I...

You are a science fiction fan.  Can you tell us some of your favourite tv shows or movies and why? Interview with singer and actor Ian Lake Today on What On What's Good with Jovin Tardif , I am here with Ian Lake .  His latest single is “more” from his debut album  What It Is .  You may have seen Ian as Bolton from Locke and Key on Netflix or Tolor on Star Trek: Discovery on Netflix.  In our #cinqquestion interview, we discuss songwriting tips, behind-the-scenes at Locke & Key, a future short film, and much more.   1. Do you have any songwriting tips for new artists? I think the most important thing when you’re writing any song is just to follow your first impulses without judging if it’s the best lyric or the best melody, even if it doesn’t feel great at the moment. I usually find if I’m trying to come up with the perfect lyric, I’ll usually get stuck and stop writing. But if I just write whatever comes, I can always go back and fix what’s not feeling right after. And don’t worry about structure. Not everything has to follow the traditional, ve...

#cinqque5tion interview with Canadian Indie-Pop/Rock artist Bex with Host Jovin Tardif from #whatonwhatsgood Today on #whatonwhatsgood with Jovin Tardif, I am here with Canadian Indie-Pop/Rock artist Bex. In our interview we discuss musical influences, new single Feelings from full-length album, "Startrails", the recording process, songwriting tips and much more. 1. Some of your influences include Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, and Lights.  Can you tell us a favourite song from each artist and why? For Michelle Branch, pretty much anything off of the “ Spirit Room ” album for nostalgic reasons!  I’ve also always loved “ Find your Way Back ” from her album “ Hotel Paper ,” from 2003. The feel good song reflects a lot of the raw vulnerability that I love in all her music.  For Avril Lavigne, I’m mostly speaking to her music in the early 2000s. I was obsessed with her debut “ Let Go ” album from 2001, and must have heard the entire album 1000 times. The song “ I’m With You ...
