Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman discusses her character Lucille Ball
“I really knew nothing about Lucille Ball except that she had done ‘I Love Lucy.’ I fell in love with the woman and the way Aaron wrote about her, as well as with Lucille and Desi Arnaz as a couple. You could tell Aaron loved them too, and he loved their fractious and passionate relationship.”
“The vocal aspect was kind of a high-wire act. She was a heavy smoker and her voice was deeper and raspier naturally.”
“I studied the black-and-white footage endlessly. My makeup and clothing is just like hers. I learned every quirk, every hand gesture. But I always kept in mind that Lucille created Lucy Ricardo. They are not the same person.”
“As an actress, she never really got a break when she was younger. Movies were not her métier. But that is part of what made her resilient. She, with Desi’s support and protection, reinvented herself as a comedy star. But it was all so tenuous and could be taken away by a couple of cheap headlines. That is still very relevant today."
Academy Award winner Javier Bardem discusses his character Desi Arnaz
“He wanted to help Lucille, protect her, hold her — not only because she was the star of the show but because she was his wife, the mother of his kids and an amazing, creative mind. But there were many things that he could have done better.”
Missing: Dead or Alive? Blast Films Netflix #whatonwhatsgood Express Review Missing: Dead or Alive? follows a female-led missing persons unit as they work on cases from 2019 to 2021. The missing person cases included Lorraine Garcia, Amirah Watson, David Taylor, and Sierra Stevens. Overall, the show is decent. It felt a bit staged at times. It wasn't my favourite true crime series of the year, but it's worth watching if you need something to watch. Samaritan Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Balboa Productions United Artists Releasing Amazon Studios Release date August 26, 2022 #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif | What On What's Good) Is it just me...I feel like Stallone's character Joe Smith was a lot like Bruce Willis’s character David Dunn in Unbreakable... In this action-thriller film, a gang led by Cyrus (Pilou Asbaek) gets a bit out of hand and someone needs to stop them. Can Joe (three-time Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone), who plays a garbage collector, use his powers to save the day without 13-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) and the rest of the Granite City finding out his secret? Stallone was pretty decent in this one. The movie had a 90's feel to it. Can the old guy come out of retirement and beat the bad guy? Will justice prevail? Directed by Julius Avery Written by Bragi F. Schut Based on Samaritan by Bragi F. Schut, Marc Olivent, Renzo Podesta Produce...
The Dropout Elizabeth Meriwether Pictures/Semi-Formal Productions/20th Television/Searchlight Television Disney Platform Distribution/Hulu Genre Drama #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif) 'The Dropout' tells the story of Elizabeth Holmes (Amanda Seyfried). The series basically explores the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos. Her goal was to create a blood diagnostic technology that will be able to run hundreds of tests on a single drop of blood. Her technology never worked. I must say, Amanda Seyfried does an amazing portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes. The story allows you to see Holmes in high school, as a college freshman, and eventually a businesswoman. If you like Netflix’s “ Inventing Anna " or Showtime’s “ Super Pumped ” you will definitely like "The Dropout". If you want to learn more about the story, make sure to check out the HBO documentary 'The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley' (2019) dire...
