Description

It was a violent crime that shook a quiet Canadian town: Mysterious intruders break into the home of Vietnamese immigrants, terrorize the family, and leave a traumatized daughter as the only witness. Neighbors and friends describe the family as hospitable, generous, and hard-working – how could they be targets? This feature-length documentary from director Jenny Popplewell (American Murder: The Family Next Door) uses police interrogation footage and testimony from those involved to unravel a web of complexities that no one saw coming.

TV Series Review: Bel-air (2022)

Bel-Air Season 1 No. of episodes: 10 #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif) Bel-Air is a dramatic version of the '90s comedy sitcom 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air'.  It's about a young Will Smith who has to go to L.A. because of some issues happening in Philadelphia.  Just like in the original series, Will (Jabari Banks) has to get used to his new surroundings with his wealthy family in Los Angeles.  The series is interesting and they made some adjustments to the characters. Uncle Phil (Adrian Holmes) is slightly different in this show.  He's strict but fair.  He also has a few secrets. Aunt Vivian (Cassandra Freeman) plays a similar role to the 90's sitcom where she helps everyone try to accomplish their goals and become successful.  The only difference in this show is that she used to paint and she stopped doing it to help Uncle Phil with his political career. Gemma (Beth Behrs) got a new job as a school principal in L.A. Dave Johnson (Max Greenfield) is just about the friendliest guy in the world.  I don't think anyone can dislike him.  Well one person can... They have a pretty opinionated next-door neighbor, the grouchy mechanic Calvin Butler (Cedric the Entertainer).  He has a wife named Tina (Tichina Arnold) and two sons Marty (Marcel Spears) and Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney).   Dave is desperately trying to fit in with the community.  Will the Johnsons be accepted by everyone?   The series is quite amusing.  Tina as Calvin's wife is fun as she keeps...

Inventing Anna Shondaland Netflix #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif) It was a bit silly but for some reason, I binged all nine episodes and I'm sure you will do the same. Inventing Anna tells the story of Anna Sorokin, a.k.a. Anna Delvey.   Anna is known as the woman who swindled New York’s elite out of more than $200,000.  She told everyone that she was a wealthy German heiress and that she wanted to start her own foundation.   We later learn that she didn't have a penny to her name. Reporter Vivian Kent (Anna Chlumsky) with some occasional assistance from co-workers Maud (Anna Deavere Smith), Lou (Jeff Perry), and Barry (Terry Kinney) spend 9 episodes trying to figure out who Anna is through interviews with friends and acquaintances.  My only comment is that I didn't really like Ozark’s Julia Garner accent as Anna Delvey.  However, at the same time, if she was tricking everyone maybe that's the reason she had such a unique acc...

But his dad says no.   While talking to his father, Casey learns that his dad's boss, Mrs. Dixon, will be out of town for the weekend.  Hugh's boss is extremely wealthy and has tons of jewelry.   We meet his drug addict girlfriend Annabelle ( Jacqi Vene ) and find out she is pregnant.  Desperate to provide for his girlfriend and unborn child, Casey decides he wants to rob Mrs. Dixon’s house.   In Casey's mind, stealing seems like the only solution because they’re broke and meth addicts.
