Description

A fictionalized retelling of events, PAINKILLER is a scripted limited series that explores some of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in America, highlighting the stories of the perpetrators, victims, and truth-seekers whose lives are forever altered by the invention of OxyContin. An examination of crime, accountability, and the systems that have repeatedly failed hundreds of thousands of Americans, PAINKILLER is based on the book PAIN KILLER by Barry Meier and the New Yorker Magazine article ‘The Family That Built an Empire of Pain’ by Patrick Radden Keefe. Executive produced by Eric Newman, Pete Berg, Alex Gibney, and showrunners/creators Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster. Windfall (2022) High Frequency Entertainment/Cloudbreak Pictures/Mutressa Movies Netflix Release date March 18, 2022 #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif) "A man (Jason Segel) is robbing the vacation home of a wealthy tech billionaire (CEO - Jesse Plemons).  Before he can escape, he is caught by the CEO and his wife (Lily Collins).  The man freaks out and decides to hold the husband and wife hostage.  Overall, it's a pretty good thriller film.  I felt like I was watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie.  Jesse Plemons does a fantastic job of playing a wealthy/pompous/obnoxious/sarcastic CEO. Lily Collins really shows us how she doesn't have a voice in their marriage and that every aspect of her life is dictated by her husband.  The married couple are an entertaining bunch to watch as they aren't exactly on the same page.
