From acclaimed director Alexander Payne, The Holdovers follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during the holiday break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually, he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) — and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).

“There was already a lot of complexity in the character because of the way he was written”
“Good writing helps you be in a place where all kinds of things can happen and a good director who doesn't confine you is really important. It's a movie about these three completely unlikely people forming a bond, finding common ground and common humanity. It's also a nice story about self-sacrifice so I hope the film gives you this sense of lived humanity and that it feels comforting in some way.”
Da’Vine Joy Randolph discusses The Holdovers
“What's beautiful about this movie is the way it transcends ageism, racism, and gender. Sometimes when you've hit rock bottom, you're open to anything to seek relief wherever you can. You would talk to a stranger if that meant that someone would listen to you. And so, it's almost as if the universe intentionally had this happen so that they could then have these interactions.”
Dominic Sessa discusses The Holdovers
“Being at a boarding school, I can understand how heartbreaking it would be to be ready for break and then have your parents tell you that you can't come home for Christmas. You understand that there's this broken family dynamic going on behind the scenes for him which comes out in his daringness to say some of the things he says. But at the same time, he can be charming, innocent, and one of those people you love to hate.”

Untold: Jail Blazers Release April 14th, 2026 I watched the documentary, and it really made me think. I kept wondering if the NBA players were actually as bad as people said, or if the media made them look worse than they were. Some players did have real problems off the court. Rasheed Wallace sometimes got into trouble, and Damon Stoudamire also had issues, including marijuana charges. That’s why the team got the nickname “Jail Blazers” during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The name came from a lot of off-court problems like drug possession, legal issues, and heated moments with referees. There were serious incidents, too. Ruben Patterson pleaded guilty to attempted rape in 2001, and Qyntel Woods was involved in an animal abuse case. There were also problems inside the team. At one point in practice, Zach Randolph punched Ruben Patterson and broke his eye socket. The team was very good, but there was a lot of fighting and problems with control. Even with all this, they were a strong ...
The Neighborhood Mud, Blood & Beer Productions/A Bird and a Bear Entertainment/Kapital Entertainment/Trill Television CBS Studios/CBS #whatonwhatsgood Express Review (by: Jovin Tardif) "The Neighborhood on CBS is about a friendly Midwestern couple (Dave and Gemma Johnson) and their son Grover (Hank Greenspan) who move to a neighborhood in Los Angeles. Gemma (Beth Behrs) got a new job as a school principal in L.A. Dave Johnson (Max Greenfield) is just about the friendliest guy in the world. I don't think anyone can dislike him. Well one person can... They have a pretty opinionated next-door neighbor, the grouchy mechanic Calvin Butler (Cedric the Entertainer). He has a wife named Tina (Tichina Arnold) and two sons Marty (Marcel Spears) and Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney). Dave is desperately trying to fit in with the community. Will the Johnsons be accepted by everyone? The series is quite amusing. Tina as Calvin's wife is fun as she keeps...
