Writer/Director J Blakeson discusses I Care A Lot
"The story is about a professional guardian, Marla Grayson, played by Rosamond Pike whose business is taking advantage of wealthy older people, especially those with no family. She doesn't care about the people in her care.
Jennifer Peterson when we first meet her is a wealthy older woman, who's downsized, She owned her own home, has no family, and is just sort of getting on with a nice comfortable retirement. This is why she seems like the perfect mark.
Roman is a powerful wealthy man who has sort of connections to bad guys. He can do bad things. He is also the son of Jennifer Peterson."
Rosemund Pike who plays "Marla Greyson" discusses 'I Care A Lot'
"It was the most original script I'd read in months. I thought this is a character I have to play. She was just you know everything. I've kind of been wanting to see in a woman on screen, you know, allowed to do all the things that men have always been allowed to. Be ruthless, ambitious, get exactly what she wants. She just has no fear. She is out to win.
Marla is fun to watch. She's kind of unlikeable, but you love her. You root for her. You kind of want to go where she goes because she shocks you. But you kind of love the shock.
I just want people to have a fun ride with this film. I want people to kind of be giddy with excitement at the appalling nature of what they're witnessing."
