Cobra Kai Express Review by Jovin Tardif | What On What's Good

Karate Kid came out over 30 years ago.  I remember watching it over and over again as a child.
Who can forget that crazy kick by Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament?

The original Karate Kid films taught us several lessons.

Some examples include
-being respectful
-deciding what you want from life and finding ways to fulfill your goals
-facing your fears head-on in order to overcome them
-finding balance in your life
-humility
-and much more.

The Netflix series, Cobra Kai sort of focuses on the past as well as the present.  Danny LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence are now in their forties.

But what happened to Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio)?  Well, he moved on with his life. He's married and has two children. He also runs his own car dealership, 'the LaRusso Auto Group'.  But is everything perfect? Is Daniel just using his victories to coast through life?

What about Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka)?  When you first see him again, he is clearly not in a good place.  He is living in a rundown apartment and drinking excessively.   Did the tournament impact his life?   I would say so.  But what else will we learn about Johnny's backstory?

Will these two characters cross paths again?

When they do, what will happen?

The series has a nice mix of old and new cast members.   Every season, they seem to bring back some familiar faces from the past to see how they are doing, how they turned out, and how they will impact the minds of young students at the dojo.   In one of the seasons, they reintroduced John Kreese (Martin Kove).  In season 5 they brought Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) into the mix.  I wonder who will be next?  I'm also wondering what new lessons we will learn as new seasons are introduced.
